Every baptized person is called to ministry. The Education for Ministry (EfM) program provides lay persons with the education to carry out the ministry to which they are called. In the Baptismal Covenant, we promise to "continue in the apostles' teaching and fellowship...". EfM offers an opportunity for you to discover how to respond to your call to Christian service.
In addition to regular study of scriptures and the history of the church, EfM sessions provide opportunities for individuals to engage in community-building and theological reflection, thus giving us all the opportunity to engage in discussions about how to carry out ministry in the world. Many participants identify theological reflection as the most important component of EfM: naming the transformations and differences our ministries make in the world.
EfM is a program of The University of the South, School of Theology in Sewanee, TN and has groups throughout the Anglican Communion. EfM is offered on-line and in local/regional groups. Learn more about EfM here.
