Attention Musicians & Choir Directors:

The Cathedral Chapter is pleased to invite you and your choir to the 2013 Diocesan Choir Day. The Choir Day will be taking place on May 4th at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Burlington. We will spend the day singing together as a large choir and there will be workshops offered in vocal technique, Welsh harmony, the psalms, and paperless music for small choirs. We will end our day together with choral evensong beginning at 4:30 p.m.   

Honoring Our Relationships: Building a Safe Church Community

Diocesan policy states that “as of January 1, 2013, all Covered Persons [as defined in the policy]must have completed training on issues of sexual harassment and exploitation and on the prevention and detection of child sexual abuse in church settings within the previous five years…”. During 2012, eleven Honoring Our Relationships training events were held throughout Vermont to provide a wide opportunity for people to renew their training or to participate in the training for the first time.  A total of 160 people attended the trainings and received certificates.

Basic training events scheduled for 2013. These trainings are ‘bring your own lunch’ events scheduled for 9 am to 3 pm and meet the requirement for anyone (lay and ordained) who has not completed this Vermont training since January 1, 2009.

2013 Training Opportunities for Clergy - Watch for a Fall 2013 Training Date

Training opportunities for the ordained have been created, recognizing there are conversations that may take place best or only among clergy. The training is scheduled for 9 am to 12:30 pm (bring a lunch and stay to spend time with colleagues, if you’d like) and will meet the requirement for an ordained person who has not completed the basic 6-hour training in Vermont since January 1, 2009. The focus of these trainings will be on boundaries, power, and self-care.
